I think British Television (what I have seen on PBS) is far superior to American.

(The one where the letter was lost during WW2 and they meet years later) Is the best all around story I have ever seen!
What are some good british films?

I think Europe vs America is a better topic.

The French seem to get higher budgets on their movies, I've seen some quite cool looking trailers. The last french movie I started watching, Vidoque(sp?), really sukked though.

The Europeans seem to be more 'risky' with innovative ideas. If they work Hollywood uses them. There are quite a lot remakes in Hollywood from European movies (Insomnia, Nightwatch, Vanilla Sky(although its an other name in Europe) for example).

I wouldnt be surprised if they'd remake Lola Rentt too.

Hollywood is typical American, keeping up appearances.

Try the office, or the league of gentlemen, or pheonix nights, but not that 'bucket' cr*p, next you'll be saying you like mr.bean, it's like p*ssing on blackadders grave. Brit comedy is better, that's a fact, europians are about as funny as cancer, yanks do good drama type stuff (6 ft under, 24, that's about it really)

The difference between british cinema and british tv is that british tv is made for brits, british cinema is always trying to make films more mainstream. The only films that actually make it out of development are ones that can travel well (ie make money in america). Foreign cinema doesn't really follow that path. In France they make french films.

American tv vs British tv is debatable. Friends vs Coupling, Frasier vs The Office, Eastenders vs The West Wing... who knows?
